The Astro Compact Industrial Drone Base Kit with 2 Batteries from B&H includes the base kit configuration of the Astro compact industrial drone and two SL8 SuperLight flight batteries. Together, you get a more complete solution for industrial aerial imagine applications, such as precision mapping with RTK. All you need to do is provide a gimbal and payload of your choice. The base kit gives you a customizable drone via custom programming through the MAVSDK and cloud processing. The additional smart batteries in this kit have an integrated OLED status display, self-monitoring via a built-in chip, and let you utilize the Astro’s technology on location for longer; flying for up to 37 minutes per battery on average.

FREEFLY Astro Compact Industrial Drone (Base Kit)

Created to meet the demands of professional and industrial applications, the Freefly Astro Compact Industrial Drone delivers a feature-rich, customizable aerial platform. This base kit version of the Astro includes a host of accessories to get you flying immediately and a travel case to get everything on location safely. All you have to do is supply a gimbal and payload of your choice to match your specific requirements. Perhaps you’ll add a high-end DSLR for cinema projects, a thermal camera for inspections or first responder rescue missions, or a camera that utilizes the Astro’s RTK system for precision mapping.

Whichever payload type you employ with the Astro, the drone provides you with up to 25 minutes of flight time with an average payload of 3.3 lb. You can customize tasks by employing your own code inside the Astro via MAVSDK, as well as using it to send recorded data to the cloud for processing into your workflow via integrated LTE connectivity (United States only). The code within the drone is operated by Skynode, which powers the Astro with a Linux-based mission computer.

Precision Mapping with RTK

Utilizing the u-blox (F9P) GNSS module and support for L1/L2 GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and Galileo satellite constellations, the built-in multiband RTK system of the Astro can remain steady at various heights and positions. This allows for centimeter-level mapping precision.

Travel Case and Kit Accessories

A protective travel case is included and features a custom-cut foam insert, with sections for the Astro (equipped with landing gear and props) and a variety of accessories. The foam helps with organization and protection, capable of handling drops up to 3.3′. The case is also submersible and dust-tight, meeting the MIL-STD 810G standard. For added convenience and peace of mind, the case is airline checkable.

Equipped with a built-in microprocessor, the SL8 eliminates the need for balance connectors as it monitors its own charging, discharging, and health status.
